Rachel Gilbertson
Founder, The Art of Presence

Case Study

Before

When Rachel first connected with The Out Beyond, she had recently followed her intuition to leap into full-time entrepreneurship after running The Art of Presence part-time for two years. She wanted to:

  • Be more understood and create meaningful connections.

  • Turn her work into a financially sustainable full-time venture.

  • Align her business with her values and vision while maintaining peace around money.

  • Build business acumen, operational clarity, and integrated time management.

  • Strengthen self-trust and confidence while navigating finances, paperwork, and to-do lists.

Despite her deep commitment to her mission (helping others connect to their own inner wisdom), Rachel felt the pressure to “hit the ground running,” niche down quickly, and have her offers and messaging perfectly defined. She feared that slowing down might cost her momentum.

The Out Beyond Approach

Kellyn helped Rachel blend practical strategy with soulful alignment, ensuring she could grow her business without sacrificing her integrity or intuition. Together, they:

  • Identified her core values as touchstones for daily decisions.

  • Shifted her definition of full-time from hours-based to values-based.

  • Reframed marketing as an authentic expression of both “magic and practicality.”

  • Created space for curiosity and creativity—including transforming her kids’ unused playhouse into a whiteboard-filled idea sanctuary.

  • Used tools like the Who Am I vs. Who Will Buy? framework and Old Paradigm vs. New reflection to navigate decisions.

  • Clarified her offers, financial goals, and revenue streams while staying true to her multidimensional work.

Transformation

Rachel experienced both tangible progress and deep personal shifts:

  • Self-Understanding – She no longer needed external validation to feel seen; instead, she trusted herself and opened up first, leading to more meaningful connections.

  • Money Mindset – She found peace with finances, trusting that aligned work would naturally attract abundance. She also replaced her former full time income within three months.

  • Business Clarity – Milestones included new contracts, podcast interviews, published meditations, and a thriving Mindful Monday series.

  • Creative Flow – By allowing all ideas in without rushing to act, she uncovered themes that clarified her business purpose.

  • Embodied Confidence – “I’ve never felt more calm, confident, and clear than I have in my whole life. And I love it.” - Rachel

In Rachel's Words

"The timing of meeting and working with Kellyn was serendipitous. Although I officially started my business 2 years prior, I met her right after I took the leap into full-time entrepreneurship. I knew it was important for me to stay aligned with my inner wisdom while also learning how to run a business. Kellyn’s approach blends practical magic—important business strategy woven with life coaching—and then watching the magic unfold.

From the moment we first met, Kellyn ‘just got me.’ I cried reading my Session One Implementation Plan—it was so spot on that I felt seen, heard, and valued. By allowing all the ideas in, I’m more clear on my purpose and more confident in my decisions. Opportunities are opening up that feel deeply aligned and exciting. I feel an expansion, ease, and flow in my day as I continue to lean into my intuitive knowing.”"

Karie Godron
Life & Leadership Coach

Case Study

Before

When Karie came to The Out Beyond, she had just completed her Wayfinder Life Coach Training and was ready to build her own heart-centered coaching business. She was:

  • Overwhelmed by the many options for building a business.

  • Unsure where to focus first and stuck in “to-do list spin.”

  • Feeling unclear on her audience and whether that even mattered at this stage.

  • Carrying guilt about time spent on self-care or non-revenue activities.

  • Looking for a guide who could bring both deep business experience and intuitive coaching to the table.

While Karie had decades of personal growth and professional success, she wanted someone to hold the bigger picture with her—capturing ideas, clarifying priorities, and helping her take “turtle steps” without losing sight of what mattered most.

The Out Beyond Approach

Over a series of sessions, Kellyn and Karie worked to integrate business clarity with values-based living:

  • Defined Karie’s core values (Connection, Simplicity & Sustainability, Synchronicity, Learning, Creativity) as her decision-making compass.

  • Created Life Categories as Portals to Fulfillment, balancing personal passions like piano, nature, and writing alongside professional goals.

  • Reframed productivity and time—replacing “enoughness” anxiety with choice and presence.

  • Clarified her ideal clients, transformation process, and the “whisper” style of marketing that aligned with her energy.

  • Developed soul-aligned success measures that went beyond income to include connection, energy, and satisfaction.

  • Used reflective practices and journaling prompts to surface resistance and turn it into curiosity rather than self-criticism

Next, Transformation

Transformation

Through the process, Karie:

  • Shifted to values-based decision making, cutting clutter from her day-to-day.

  • Began applying her values not only to business decisions but also to personal life—family, vacations, even birthday gifts.

  • Experienced more presence and peace: “I am more at peace about the time everything takes. I am present more often than before.” - Karie

  • Let go of performing for algorithms, focusing instead on “whispering” her work to the right people.

  • Built self-trust around her unique rhythm and brilliance, no longer needing to explain her way of working to others.

  • Clarified her business foundations so time away from work felt truly restorative.

Next, In Their Words

In Karie's Words

“I was completely overwhelmed with all the options for building a business and wanted someone to capture and hold all of that and help me see clearly. Kellyn’s years of experience in both business and coaching made me feel like she could be trusted to hold the space I needed. I also felt great relief knowing someone else was walking this path with me.

Intuitively, I’d had my values running in the background. When Kellyn explained how I could use them to make decisions about my business, I started applying them in all areas of my life. I am more present in my life. I am kinder with myself, more at peace with the time everything takes, and I savour my many passions at a new level.

Because of partnering with Kellyn, I didn’t feel alone in my business. It was so helpful to have a trained, intuitive eye walk with me as I take the turtle steps toward a ‘velveteen rabbit real’ coaching business.”

Liz Heichelbech – Artist, Creative Coach & Writer, Creative Incites

Case Study

Before

When Liz first connected with The Out Beyond, she was caught in the exhausting cycle of trying to fit her authentic, artistic self into conventional business boxes. She wanted to:

  • Clarify what she was actually offering and who she was serving without limiting people or herself.

  • Prioritize her own writing and art as the foundation of her work, not as "extras" squeezed into margins.

  • Build a sustainable creative business that felt playful, valuable, and aligned (the opposite of proving herself to feed the system)

  • Navigate the overwhelm of endless to-dos: website, social media calendars, email lists, finding her niche, reaching her target audience.

  • Stop the servitude pattern of fawning and hiding her "woo" to appear acceptable.

Despite her deep wisdom and artistic gifts, Liz felt stuck. She thought she needed more discipline, a better business plan, and someone to "whip her into shape" to finally check all the boxes. What she didn't realize yet was that she was asking the wrong questions and working from the outside in rather than letting her authentic self lead.

The Out Beyond Approach

Kellyn helped Liz recognize that her resistance wasn't procrastination…it was wisdom. Together, they:

  • Reframed her creative practice as fuel, not distraction. Liz received permission to write and create art first, tracking time spent painting and writing as legitimate business activities.

  • Named her unique magic: "sass and spiritual." This became the through-line for everything. Spirituality with a sense of humor, safe exploration of creativity, invitations instead of infomercials.

  • Released the need to prove or explain. Liz shifted from "stop earning money" and proving herself to recognizing she'd already earned her place through wisdom, knowledge, training, and experience.

  • Identified her people: those who are bored, burned out, and wanting to replace bad habits with something more life-giving, and helping them make their mark and see where it takes them.

  • Created aligned offerings like "Art Instead" Happy Hours (replacing wine & paint), coloring books, time-lapse videos, mini online courses, and live mandala-alongs. All rooted in art-making as a wellness and spiritual practice.

  • Dismantled limiting beliefs like "you have to tone yourself down to be recognized and survive" and replaced them with "If I am my true self, limitless good can happen."

  • Built from the inside out, letting what delighted her guide the work, trusting that the niche would find her when she built for herself.

Tall Poppy Blues by Elizabeth Heichelbech

Transformation

Liz experienced profound liberation alongside tangible business momentum:

  • Inner Shifts – She let go of heaviness and beliefs she didn't even recognize were holding her back. She moved from self-doubt to embodying Capital S Self. Limitless, playful, and safe from within.

  • Creative Flow – "My life truly feels like magic." Ideas kept coming, not as pressure but as creative responses to life itself. She stopped trying to engineer others' experiences and instead created invitations to the experience.

  • Business Clarity – She completed her coloring book, began self-publishing a sequel, created downloadable courses, made short videos for social media, secured gallery shows, and developed her Art Apothecary concept that somehow holds it all.

  • Embodied Freedom – Liz found the eye of the storm within herself, no longer needing external validation or having to explain what can't be explained. She embraced "benevolent rebellion" and used the signifiers of capitalism to defeat capitalism.

  • Present-Moment Living – "I'm in the happy place all the live long day." By following delight and being present, the outside world became malleable through inside work.

Next, In Their Words

In Liz's Words

"I thought she was going to whip me into shape and get me back on the 'right' track of what I thought I 'should' be doing to build my small business… to check all the boxes of 'the almighty business plan.' I thought she would get me to stop procrastinating on less preferred tasks, such as building my website.

Turns out, I was asking the wrong questions. There were good reasons I was feeling stuck and overwhelmed… That's because I was out of alignment. I didn't need more discipline and a more strategic business plan—I discovered that I was working from the outside in.

I'm feeling lighter and more aligned with my creative path. You have many, many superpowers, but you have a particular genius for helping people recognize and let go of what's not necessary. I've been doing therapy and spiritual work for a really long time, and I still have so much of the heaviness and these beliefs that I don't even recognize. The relief of your acknowledging that it's true can't be put into words. The only way would be to treat it like a poem or a love letter."
