Take it from me. I have an MBA as a dual graduate degree. I have been in private equity boardrooms and partnered with CEOs. And still, I can tell you with certainty: you already have enough business acumen to build a business that works.
Now, I risk saying that because most people show up to hire me precisely because they believe I have more business knowledge. And in some ways — or from some perspectives — I actually do. But my point still stands: you already have enough to begin.
Many entrepreneurs believe that one more course, one more degree, one more certification, one more summit, one more masterclass will unlock success. This belief is fueled by marketing messages that prey on insecurity. We are told over and over again that things are not working out for us, that we are not the next big thing because we are lacking something.
Knowledge is important. I have a 1 in my Human Design profile, which means I am an investigator. I love to do research. I know that every human being I meet has something to teach me. But even though knowledge is important, more information does not necessarily equal transformation in business.
My academic background and corporate experience gave me exposure to the language and lingo of boardrooms. I learned processes and perspectives that can be useful in business. Tools help, but they were never what created alignment or sustainability for me. The real shift came from self-discovery, trust, and living in rhythm with my own ecosystem.
And here is the truth: you already have applicable business knowledge from your path so far. Think about it. How was the school you attended run? How did you plan and organize group projects if you are post-grad? What did you use to build that lemonade stand when you were a kid? Business has always been around you, and your version of it is already within you somewhere.
Tying your worth to credentials or hustle keeps you stuck in “I will be ready when…” I see this with so many people who come to me. They have a gift to give — astrology, tarot, accounting, photography, art, teaching, coaching — but they don’t believe they “understand” business. I am here to tell you that what you already have is enough. You already know enough to begin.
And beginning is all that matters. Start with what you are most excited about. Excitement and deep commitment are contagious. You do not need to keep proving yourself. You need to keep returning to yourself.
In fact, I recorded a podcast episode called Before You Buy Another Business Course with Linda Booker. You can listen to it here.
Out Beyond, we build businesses not on endless external credentials, but on trust, clarity, and rhythms that last.
